Why belly dance? Belly Dance is in its peak in popularity! Everyone is turning to the dance for many reasons, from entertainment to fitness to art.

For fitness: Belly dance is a feminine art form that incorporates only natural movements. Although some movements are unfamiliar or uncommon, when properly taught by a professional, there is absolutely no risk of injury to any joints, and especially not to your back! In fact, it’s a great way to get an overall body workout, enhance your strength and flexibility, and even add grace and elegance, all while burning about 300 calories in each class!

For fun: Belly dance is both fun and relaxing. Stress-relief is one of the biggest reasons people join. While our school takes its art form seriously, classes are taught in a friendly, personable, pleasurable atmosphere. Our instructors have performance experience, have ‘been there’, and know how to break down the movements into easy-to-follow steps that can be put together to form exciting dance routines.

For those who want to perform: Belly dance is a performing art and if you have a ham deep down inside that can’t wait to get on the stage, then we have many options for you! First and most exciting is the school’s annual Student Showcase, held each December. This program asks for volunteers from all classes, all levels, to participate in a thrilling show that not only exemplifies what the school has covered in the past year, but promotes the dance with dignity and good taste in a theater venue to an audience of other students, family and friends. Also, there are other smaller shows throughout the year called "Haflas" which allow volunteers from level 2 and above to perform their own choreographies.

For those who want to be a professional belly dancer: Belly dance classes are structured in 4 levels, with pre-requisites prior to attaining a new and higher level. Level 4 takes nearly 3 years to attain, and produces top-notch professional performers and teachers who can honestly say they understand their art, its movements, history, music and emotional expression.
